Tuchel confirms Rudiger will continue playing despite contract issues. Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has insisted that defender Antonio Rudiger will continue to play despite problems over a new contract.
The German centre-back’s deal expires in June 2022, with no further progress being made. While the famous clubs such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are news that they are ready to offer attractive offers to join the team.
The 28-year-old has continued to perform well, with Tuchel insisting his contract does not affect Rudiger’s appearances.
“It’s a solid performance from Tony,” Tuchel said. “He’s been outstanding from day one and he has continued to improve at a very high level.”
“Situations are situations. We want him to stay That was clear and he knew it. But sometimes situations like that have some delays.”
“That can happen today. But it didn’t affect his mind or his qualities. And certainly does not affect his behavior. He is now fully committed to Chelsea.”
“He’s in the right spot. He is in the most competitive league with clubs where wins matter. It suits him perfectly. So be patient a little more and hope it ends happily.”
Rudiger fell out of favour under previous manager Frank Lampard but has re-emerged as a key player since Tuchel took charge in January.
Thriving in Tuchel’s 3-4-3 tactical blueprint, Rudiger was a vital component in the side that won the Champions League last season and has maintained that momentum this term.
